There has never been a better moment to install GTA 5 mods. Despite being seven years old, GTA 5 remains one of the most popular games ever – it was recently announced it has now sold over 130 million copies.
An influx of new and returning players has also been expected after the Epic Games Store gave away GTA 5 on PC for free. Even though the offer is over, it’s still possible to get it cheaply – especially if you are one of the few who haven’t yet played it. There’s a reason why it’s still considered one of the best PC games ever made.
What about the best GTA5 mods? These mods are free and can be made by a passionate group.
GTA 5 has accumulated a large library of mods over the past seven years. It can be hard to find the best Grand Theft Auto V Mods that are worth the effort. Many GTA 5 mods can be excellent, but there are many that are not very good.
We’ve compiled a list of the best GTA 5 mods you can install in 2020 to make it as simple as possible. A guide has been included on how to install GTA5 mods on a PC. View all mods here.
1. Download and install Script Hook V for GTA 5
The first tool you need is Script Hook V. The.zip file can be downloaded. Open it and copy the ScriptHookV.dll to the GTA V folder. For people using Steam, this is found in \SteamApps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\ on the drive where you installed GTA 5.
Copy over NativeTrainer.asi and dsound.dll to the same folder.
2. Install GTAV LUA Plugin
Some mods also require the GTAV LUA Plugin. Open the.zip file and then copy LUA.asi to the same folder at GTA5.exe as in step 1.
3. Install GTA 5 mods
These two tools should allow you to download and install any GTA 5 mod. Different mods will have different instructions so make sure you read them before downloading. The majority of the instructions can be copied to the main GTA 5 folder.
If you are downloading a mod that uses the LUA Plugin you should copy it into the addins’ folder. This folder can also be found under the scripts folder of GTA 5.
You are now ready to install the best GTA5 mods and start playing.
1. GTA V Redux
GTA V Redux is our pick of the best GTA 5 mod of all time. This mod brings GTA 5 a complete graphical overhaul, with 4K textures and new weather effects. GTA V Redux brings GTA 5 back to its former glory after seven years.
It not only makes the vehicles more responsive, improves the police system’s fairness, and enhances NPC behavior. Los Santos people behave more believable.
2. Open All Interiors
GTA 5’s world is vast and beautifully realized. However, there are many buildings you can’t get to. It feels like there are fewer buildings that you can access than in previous games. However, the Open All Interiors mod for GTA 5 changes all of that, by allowing you to enter a large number of previously inaccessible buildings.
This makes an already huge map even bigger, and it also helps to make GTA 5 more real.
3. Complex Control
If you want a GTA 5 mod that essentially changes every aspect of the game, then Complex Control is the mod for you. This mod brings battle royale mechanics that were popularized in Fortnite and PUBG to GTA 5. It also includes over 100 character skins, new abilities, and a lot more.
Complex Control is an excellent example of the ambition that GTA 5 mods can achieve.
4. Gang and Turf
GTA 5 is the spiritual successor to the PlayStation 2’s GTA: San Andreas. Both games are set in San Andreas. GTA 5 is a vast improvement over the PS2 game. However, GTA 5 has some notable omissions like the fun gang warfare feature.
If you were gutted that GTA 5 didn’t include that, then you can relive it with the Gang and Turf mod.
5. Pack of Funny Vehicles
GTA 5 will be filled with famous and ridiculous vehicles thanks to the Funny Vehicles Pack #1 and #2. These mods allow you to ride in cars like The Poolmobile which has a small swimming pool, barbecue, sunbathers and other iconic vehicles such as the motorhome from Breaking Bad.
6. Gravity Gun
Bring a touch of Half Life 2-inspired chaos to GTA 5 with the Gravity Gun script. You can equip the gun as you would any other weapon in GTA 5. Then, hold down E on your keyboard to grab anything in the world including pedestrians and animals. Finally, fire them off in the distance. It’s ridiculously fun.
7. NaturalVision Evolution
NaturalVision Evolved is a highly ambitious GTA 5 mod that aims to take the graphics of Grand Theft Auto V to a whole new level. While there are plenty of great visual mods for GTA 5 out there, NaturalVision Evolved goes even further, and gives us a hint of what GTA 6 could look like in the future.
NaturalVision Evolved, unlike other mods, is still in development and requires early access. This would normally be a red flag but this seems like a really ambitious mod. Plus, you can try a (very) early version of it for free.
8. GTA Iron Man Armour
Put a bit of the MCU in GTA with the GTA Iron Man Armour mod, which lets you suit up and blast around San Andreas. It allows you to take to the skies and also makes you a brutal weapon. You can use rockets and repulsor blasters to deliver justice.
9.Crime and Police Rebalance & Enhancement
GTA 5’s biggest problem is its overzealous police department. They will crowd you with cops, no matter what your offence may be – even though there don’t appear to be any witnesses.
As the game is all about you being a criminal, brushes with the law are a big part of the GTA 5 experience, so if you want the cops to behave more realistically (and fairly), then make sure you install the Crime and Police Rebalance & Enhancement – it will make the game far more enjoyable.
10. Vice Cry: Remastered

GTA: Vice City is one of the most fondly-remembered Grand Theft Auto games, and the Vice Cry:Remastered brings the PS2 classic to modern PCs. All of the game’s content is included.
This mod will allow you to enjoy GTA with new visuals. It’s amazing.
